I'm Filipino living in Indonesia and proud of what Indonesia achieved. While all of ASEAN is applying and interested from BRICS membership to improve their economy, the PHILIPPINES never showed any interest and wants to stick with America. Joining BRICS does not mean leaving "traditional" trading partners like US, Japan, EU. Also, Philippines should take advantage of potential BRICS economic benefits. Filipino Politicians are afraid to join BRICS because America/the West will get angry. I thought America is their "friend". Why need American approval before joining any economic bloc? Better think twice Philippines or you will be left behind in ASEAN.

I am aware that fifty percent of South Koreans had to get a second job, there's a severe recession in Argentina, and Turkey has high inflation and depreciated currency, but the rest of the world is doing fine. The rest of the world has no effect on the so-called "after Covid effect.".

However, before anyone starts celebrating or criticizing the West over BRICS, it’s important to recognize that this alliance cannot thrive without strong ties to Western economies. Close economic relationships with Western nations play a critical role in BRICS’ sustainability.
It’s also worth noting that BRICS is primarily composed of nations led by authoritarian-leaning governments—China, Russia, India, South Africa, and Brazil. The group is largely chaired and financially backed by China, a country likely to dominate the organization over time. This dynamic could sow the seeds of future cracks within the alliance as competing interests emerge.
